Joe Juliano is a versatile and highly skilled guitarist and audio engineer who is valued for being able to bring any project to life and reach its greatest potential. Driven by an intense love of music, he is eager and willing to work on all kinds of musical projects. Joe has been taught and mentored by music legends Carlos Alomar (David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney) and Al Pitrelli (Trans-Siberian Orchestra, Alice Cooper, Megadeth). He currently works as a guitarist for hire playing on artists’ records and doing live performances (frequently working with On The Move Entertainment, Element Music, Simone Band, and The Vespids). Playing guitar since the age of 8, Joe Juliano was raised on rock and roll. His influences include Green Day, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, Brian Setzer, Avenged Sevenfold, Volbeat, and Ghost. Practicing for hours every day and playing in a band for several years as a teenager helped Joe develop his own style of songwriting and performance. Along the way he captured many audiences’ attention with his exciting and energetic playing style. He quickly became well known for his technical prowess on guitar. During his high school years, he was often asked to fill in and play with cover bands. The band members were often impressed at how easily he could pick up a song on the spot and fit in with the rest of the band. It was during these years that he was able to hone his ears and his musical performance. At this point in time, Joe also began to explore playing other genres of music like jazz and rockabilly. Joining the school’s jazz ensemble helped to broaden his musical horizons and introduced him to a new world of music outside of rock and roll. In college, he often acted as a band leader/music director and organized bands to play at school events. In addition to organizing bands, he also gained another new experience by playing guitar in pit orchestras for musicals.
Throughout his years playing in bands, he also took it upon himself to learn about audio engineering and gradually build a home recording studio. Eventually, he decided to work independently and start writing and recording songs on his own. After several years of independent study in audio engineering, Joe attended Stevens Institute of Technology and majored in Music & Technology, graduating at the top of the program. During his time at Stevens, he took advantage of many great opportunities that the school offered. His skills, dedication, and willingness to learn helped him to become a valued member of the school’s Music & Technology program. He immediately joined the Stevens Audio Engineering Club which helped provide hands-on experience setting up and running recording sessions and live shows. After two years of working with the club as an active and dedicated member, he was elected President of the Stevens Audio Engineering Club. During his time as president, he helped to grow the club substantially and as a result, they were able to put on more shows and bring more music to campus. Fueled by an unending passion for music, he helped give more students the opportunity to play music in front of a crowd. During his college years, Joe also began working at Showplace Recording Studio as well as with a sound crew for the city of Hoboken, NJ providing sound for concerts and other events around town. At Showplace, Joe was able to observe legendary engineer Ben Elliott work with artists and musicians to create incredible recordings and mixes. In Hoboken, Joe helped set up and mix shows all around town providing sound for acts such as solo acoustic performers all the way to jazz big bands. It was through this that he truly learned the value of working with a team and often, how to effectively lead a team. Both experiences gave him a strong foundation in the worlds of professional recording and live sound.
Joe Juliano has also independently released his own original music including the album Dear No One (2017), Lost Loves EP (2017), and the album The Time Is Now (2019). Joe’s music is known for its big guitar riffs and catchy melodies as well as its versatility in styles. In late 2019, Joe joined alternative rock band The Vespids as lead guitarist and co-writer. In March 2020, he created a unique cover of the popular song ”bad guy” by Billie Eilish by utilizing his love for rockabilly and Brian Setzer. This rockabilly cover of “bad guy” was featured on Ultimate-Guitar.com and received over 74,000 views making it one of the most viewed videos on the website. In early 2021, The Vespids released the songs “Can’t Love No Woman” and “You Don’t Wanna Know” on which Joe played guitar and bass. He is also credited as a co-writer of the songs.
